Reds drop second straight 1-0 decision to Phillies

Philadelphia completes sweep of Cincinnati

Cincinnati Reds hats & apparel As if the Reds hadn’t suffered enough gut-wrenching losses in the first three games of the series, Philadelphia posted just a single run for the second day in a row and was still able to pull out a 1-0 victory to secure the sweep of NL-Central leading Cincinnati.

The Phillies (47-40) took a 1-0 lead in the third on a single by Jimmy Rollins, who was 2-for-4 on the day.

That’s all the run support that Cole Hamels would need on this day.

Hamels, who evened his record at 7-7, allowed just six hits in 7.2 innings of shutout baseball.

Brad Lidge recorded his sixth save for Philadelphia.

Cincinnati (49-41) starter Matt Maloney pitched well in the loss. He allowed just one run on four hits in his six innings.

Paul Janish went 2-for-4 for the Reds.
