The Rockies Sweep The Giants

In the eighth inning Jusitn Morneau came to the plate with one job to hit the ball. Morneau hit a two run double to help Colorado to victory and complete the sweep of the Giants.

Morneau’s pinch hit was part of a four run rally in the eighth. The Rockies score in the ninth inning of the first two games to beat the Giants.

Saturday’s game had plenty of drama that included a two run in the park home run from Brandon Barnes to score the go ahead run. Barnes’s in the park home run was his second this season.

On Friday the Rockies scored five times off Romo to gain the improbable victory. Troy Tulowitzki and Justin Morneau started off the inning with singles. The Rockies got to Romo in the first two games of the series scoring 7 runs against him.

The Rockies had to overcome an injury-shortened night by starter Jorge De La Rosa who had lost his previous two starts, was forced out of the game after the third inning due to tightness in his lower back.

Carlos Gonzalez underwent finger surgery to remove a mass from index finger. Gonzalez will miss 5 weeks.

Troy Tulowitzki is the leader in votes for the All Star Game.

The sweep of the Giants was the Rockies first at AT&T Park since 2008.
